Ages-old question: Can you value someone’s ability and grace in one area of life while heaping scorn on them for their failures in other areas of their life? My view is that it depends on what you wish to claim about yourself or your organization. For women’s soccer their deeds have shown them to care only about winning. That’s fine by me–if you will simply say that in all your marketing and promotion boilerplate. Don’t, however, go all ‘we’re about larger values’ on me when you so obviously don’t care about those things.
