If you think that we can be a society that kills our own, and that disregards the family and the important role it plays, and doesn’t teach moral values and the important role of faith in the public square, and then expect people to be good, decent and moral when they behave economically, if you look at the root cause of the economic problems that we’re dealing with on Wall Street and Main Street I might add, from 2008, they were huge moral failings.

Article/Video: “Must-Reads: The Late, Great Molly Ivins on Rick Perry”
As Texas Gov. Rick Perry embarks on his Obama-bashing, evangelical-courting, tea party-outdoingcampaign for the presidency, we miss Molly Ivins more than ever. The late and celebrated liberal columnist was known as a writer of sparkling political commentary infused with a trenchant wit and copious shots of zero-bullshit humor. She was the consummate Texan, a ferocious populist critic of the American right-wing, and a sorely missed Mother Jones contributor.
Aphorism: On Typical Military Personalities
By Madison S. Hughes (09.24.2008)
After twenty-three years of military service in the U.S. Army, I realized that I just got tired of being around so many closed-minded, fascist, obnoxious, xenophobic, misogynistic, overconfident, arrogant, anti-intellectual, bigoted, Conservative, self-righteous, jingoistic, militaristic, redneck Republicans that thump the bible and drape themselves in the flag. I could go on, but life is too short.
Article: “Tea Party= Religious Right= Unpopular”
“The new Tea Partiers set to come to Washington aren’t avoiding challenging the religious right just because they need it to form a coalition—they are it…” “Among the more than 8-in-10 (81%) who identify as Christian within the Tea Party movement,” the survey found, “57% also consider themselves part of the Christian conservative movement…” And today, in an interesting piece in The Awl, Abe Sauer, who spent two years with the Tea Party, concludes: “I finally know what the Tea Party wants: A Christian nation.”
Blog Post: “United Coalition of Reason Will Pay Insurance Money so That Atheist Ads Can Go Up in Arkansas”
[…] the only way United CoR won’t get the money back is if CATA/On The Move Advertising proves that:
1) vandalism occurred
2) because of the atheists’ advertisements and
3) they took the case to a full trial and won (reversing the hearing judge’s decision). In other words, it seems like a long shot that United CoR will not get its money back.I still think this is backwards. Instead of giving a green light to Christian vandals to damage the ads, the law is giving them the green light to damage the buses — all on the atheists’ dime.
Blog Post: “Happy Holidays! Atheism Is Growing!”
… [Atheists] should continue to make the case that religious belief is archaic superstition, contains many immoral rules, and has no solutions for the ethical problems humanity faces today… The continuing growth of atheism throughout the world is all the encouragement we need to speak out.

Article: “Vatican Publishes Internal Abuse Files For Ronan Case”
Thousands of people in Europe and elsewhere reported they were raped and molested by priests as children while bishops covered up the crimes and the Vatican turned a blind eye […] Anderson has filed hundreds of lawsuits against priests and dioceses in the U.S. concerning priestly sex abuse.
Blog Post: “Emotional vs. Use of Emotion”
Generally speaking, I have found that theists are quick to lose control of their emotions and tend to argue emotionally while atheists tend to either stay clear of emotions all together or to use emotions to strengthen their argument.
