German court backs ban on school prayer

A German federal court has backed a principal in banning a Muslim pupil from praying at school, ruling it could jeopardise the institution’s smooth running. Although the Leipzig-based federal administrative court found that the right to pray even at school was guaranteed by religious freedom under the constitution, it said students lose the right if a conflict is created in the process.
