Poem: Tree Incarnation

I don’t want to be cremated
Because burning creates pollution
A green burial on the other hand
Appeals as a solution
I want to pass back into the earth
The earth from which I came
Organic decomposition
And be reborn again
I’d feed the many insects
The microbe and the worm
Provide nutrients for the flora
And in the longer term
My body would then be dispersed
Throughout the biosphere
And the plaque upon my tree would read
‘Reincarnated here’
