  1. Hmmm, a little Buddhism, a little existentialism. I find Sam Harris, subject of a recent post, more rewarding and there you do a lot of thinking. My opinion is that a little Tolle, a little Chopra and others can’t hurt… little less ego, being more in the present, these are good enough watchwords for life. And, if his manner and demeanor communicate these ideas to people in a way that breaks through their mental clutter and anxieties, fine, good for them. It just seems to me that the problem is not “thinking” per se but the kind of thinking that many pursue. I think we would be better off with genuine critical thinking than thinking within the tropes society spoon feeds us. And genuine critical thinking requires ridding yourself of as much ego as possible…something to which I think Tolle would assent.
