Hello truelibertarian,
I have had this argument too many times to count, so I penned an aphorism to address it. The aphorism is titled, “On Christian Terrorism,” and may be found here:
https://alwaysquestionauthority.wordpress.com/2011/08/14/aphorism-on-christian-terrorism/
Additionally, I leave you with a quote from Nobel Prize in Physics winner Steven Weinberg:
“Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you’d have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion.”
In Reason,
Madison
This is horrible, but I don’t think you can really attribute this to religion. Sadistic fools are sadistic fools. They seek some form of doctrine that they can use to rationalize their impulses, and once they find it, they go for it. People will do terrible things with or without religion, and there is no way in hell any form of Christianity would justify this. “Spare the rod and spile the child” doesn’t extend this far.
