The concept of an afterlife is inhumane and immoral. Belief in the continuation of your “soul” or consciousness after death is wishful thinking. Belief in an afterlife devalues the one life that actually exists: this one.

It is even less popular than much maligned groups like “atheists” and “Muslims.” Interestingly, one group that approaches it in unpopularity is the Christian Right… So what do Tea Partiers have in common? They areoverwhelmingly white, but even compared to other white Republicans, they had a low regard for immigrants and blackslong before Barack Obama was president, and they still do.

What NOM is actually doing is attempting to compare homosexuality to pedophilia, as evidenced by the fact that Brown chose to reference the APA’s decision to remove homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses. The comparison is nothing new for anti-gay hate groups like the Family Research Council and the American Family Association, which consistently attempt to link homosexuality to pedophilia in order to depict gays and lesbians as sexual deviants.
