Millions Make Change

The two main eras of progressive change in our country in the last century were accompanied by a broad and spirited upsurge of people     . . . Social progress without mass pressure is never easy in a capitalist system. Capitalism is structured to resist change of a progressive and radical nature. But it is especially tough going in circumstances where the right wing controls many levers of power, as it currently does . . . The political imperative of this moment, therefore, is clear: the quantitative and qualitative strengthening of the people’s movement for progressive change. God And Galileo: Why People Who Believe The Universe Should Revolve Around Their Religion Are Dangerous

There really is a movement of religious zealots who are convinced Galileo was wrong. They are called “geocentrists.” How do these geocentrists know that the Earth is the center of the universe? The Bible tells them so!
. . . Yeah, we scoff at geocentrists today, but as Sungenis points out, they had their day. It lasted something like 1,500 years. Church and state were one, and if you didn’t like it, well, they had a torture rack and possibly a pyre just for you. Read more . . .

Five Facts About Dominionism

“Dominionism” generally describes the belief that Christians are biblically mandated to control all earthly institutions until the second coming of Jesus. Be good, don’t ask questions and stay in line and you will be rewarded.  Be skeptical, ask questions and use your mind in a reasonable and rational manner and you are consigned to eternal punishment in the most horrible place, forever . . . Of course, Christianity, by design, demands ignorance.  Both naiveté and willful ignorance is at the core of a faith that is contrary to the development of knowledge through reason and rationality.  It clearly teaches people not to trust in reason, and to only accept – without question – the dogmas of the church. Why All Religions Are Scams: What is a “True Believer?”

A scam is defined as a claim that gives results that are something other than what was promised. The truth of the matter is that all religions are scams by virtue of the claims they make . . . The entire Christian religion is built upon a house of cards that is dismantled with ease. The entire Christian religion is built upon a house of cards that is dismantled with ease . . . Religion is also directly or indirectly responsible for the vast majority of the wholesale slaughter, torture and terrorism that has been, and continues to be, inflicted upon humanity . . . While some unbelievers may choose to remain silent or non-confrontational, there are a growing number who have decided that the time has come to vocalize the truth that all religions are scams.
