A Club of Liars, Demagogues and Ignoramuses

The US Republican race is dominated by ignorance, lies and scandals. The current crop of candidates have shown such a basic lack of knowledge that they make George W. Bush look like Einstein. The Grand Old Party is ruining the entire country’s reputation. . .

What a nice club that is. A club of liars, cheaters, adulterers, exaggerators, hypocrites and ignoramuses. “A starting point for a chronicle of American decline,” was how David Remnick, the editor of the New Yorker, described the current Republican race.

The Tea Party would take issue with that assessment. They cheer the loudest for the worst, only to see them fail, as expected, one by one. Which goes to show that this “movement,” sponsored by Fox News, has never been interested in the actual business of governing or in the intelligence and intellect that requires. They are only interested in marketing themselves, for ratings and dollars.

    • Connie,

If one were to search the article for the word “Democrats,” the search would have yielded a null result. There is a valid reason for this phenomenon. This reason is that the article had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Democrats! The article was a well written, fact based, critical commentary of the contemporary Republican Primary Presidential candidates. So, a learned, cerebral response would have rebutted any noted discrepancies in the author’s claims, and backed-up any said refutations with further documentation. That is the basics of argumentation.

What you have demonstrated is a lack of knowledge in the art of logic, and rhetoric, which in turn results in your argument lacking validity. You may want to familiarize yourself with the red herring logical fallacy, as well as the ad-hominem fallacy. Also, please recall that my about page states the following: “This blog is for the well-informed, and well-read with an independence of mind that place a high value on reason, critical thought, and general intellectualism.” Your comment demonstrated neither.

      In Reason,
      Madison
