Interesting interview. He also tapped into this notion of there not being a “unitary self” in arguing against the proposition of there being Free Will. Would love to read this book but need first to complete his Moral Landscape. Seems the journey Harris is on now is one that is desperately needed; it is one thing to reject theism as a description of reality, it is quite another to offer alternatives to serious questions people ask about what is real. Atheism is a starting point to ending the destructive hold of religion on humankind but, eventually, atheists must provide persuasive answers to the questions that people ask. Harris seeks to offer a non-biblical foundation for morality in Moral Landscape and now seems to be trying to talk to those who insist that while they are not religious they still have intimations and experiences of the numinous. I hope I get a chance to read it.
