Thank you so much for this. I’ve always loved this song, and it always brings tears to my eyes, no matter how much time passes or how often I hear it. I first discovered Vincent’s art when I was 15 years old and saw a reproduction of his “Starry Night”.
Many years later when I was in my early 50’s I went to the MOMA and saw the original. Tears fell from my eyes as I said, “Thank you, Vincent, for your vision!”
The anthem of its day that brought awareness of fine art to indifferent ’70s teens – its simplicity gave us the confidence to interpret art for ourselves.
