American Sniper is red meat for the red meat crowd. Any subtlety or irony in the movie about how mass killing affects the psyche of a human, or the moral hazards involved, is lost admit the movie-house cheering and clucking that accompanies one of its long-range kills. If Sarah Palin is wetting herself over this movie, it is clearly and undeniably political and we know exactly what kind of politics and cultural statements it ends up lauding.
