Very well said, Heisenberg! I completely agree with your comment. The hypocrisy of fundamentalists is astonishing. Hopefully they will continue to spew their nonsense, and continue to drive young folks away. They are cornered dogs and they know it. Here’s to a better future filled with science and humanism and diversity and compassion.
Ain’t it the truth! Anybody who has lived in the ‘heartland’ or bible belt regions recognize the stunning hypocrisy of these people. They will lecture anyone who will listen on how to live a virtuous life as long as they don’t have to do so themselves. One clan I know, conservative in their politics and religion, is replete with failed marriages, no marriages, marital and child abuse, and at least a half-dozen or more children out of wedlock. But they are loud and certain when it comes to condemning black families for their lack of stability and ‘values’.
I blame the media for so lazily and easily labeling these hypocrites as “values” voters. Hell, we all have values. Label them for what they really are: ignorant, mean-spirited, hyprocrites who hide behind the authority of a book few of them understand or even read, except for selected passages that they think, totally out of context by the way, backs their hate agenda.
