Senate Democratic Leader Gretchen Whitmer responded to Republicans gutting an anti-bullying bill by inserting language that specifically allows bullying to occur based on religious or moral reasons.
What’s God got to do with it?
He may be invoked in the national motto, but God has nothing to do with why Americans are free and secure. . . The House voted 396-9 this week to reaffirm as the national motto the phrase “In God We Trust” and encouraged its pronouncement on public buildings and continued printing on the coin of the realm. The motto was made official in 1956 during the height of Cold War hysteria over godless communism and — in the words of Brig. Gen. Jack D. Ripper in “Dr. Strangelove” — “Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.”

Atheists Do Not Need to Have All the Answers
. . . [H]ow ridiculous it is to assume that god must be the default answer for every unknown. I used to wonder why so many Christians seemed unable to understand this. I suspect now that these Christians did not want to think because doing so might jeopardize their faith.

High ranking Chaplain leaves out ‘so help me god’
The Chaplain respectfully leaves off “so help me god” for the deployed atheist soldier’s re-enlistment ceremony.
Chaplain (Colonel) Strohm is overseeing Sergeant Justin Griffith’s re-enlistment ceremony. The Chaplain is a devout Christian with decades of active-duty service.
Sergeant Griffith is the Military Director for American Atheists, and is also spear-heading the groundbreaking atheist-themed festival ‘Rock Beyond Belief’ featuring Richard Dawkins at Fort Bragg, NC in 2012.

America’s Problem with Sex Education
[T]he Obama administration and Congress in 2010 eliminated two thirds of federal funding for abstinence-only-until-marriage education, and, in a historic shift, allocated close to $190m for comprehensive sex education. . . [The Republican presidential candidates] . . . are stalwart critics of science-based and medically accurate sex education, and frequently demonstrate that they never received it. . . The South, beacon of Christian virtue, has, according to the [Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States], the highest concentration of abstinence-only education and also the riskiest teen sexual behavior.

Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX): Little More Important Than Reaffirming “In God We Trust”
Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), consistently one to jump at the chance to abandon a focus on jobs, insisted, “There are few things Congress could do that would be more important than passing this resolution. It reaffirms ‘In God We Trust’ as the official motto of the United States.” Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) suggested that without this resolution “there is no longer any reason for us to gather here in this place,” and we would all be nothing more than “worm food.”

Break Out the Sharpies — Let’s Unofficially Remove the Official National Motto from our Money
. . . I DON’T spend money with the motto on it. I cross out the motto with a Sharpie on every dollar that passes through my hands. I’ve been doing this for years, and have heard from quite a few other people who are doing the same thing. But we need EVERYBODY to do it!
So, I’m now asking everyone to get a Sharpie and start crossing out “In God We Trust” on every bill that they can! I also think it would be cool for us to write our zip codes on these bills so we can watch them spread across the country.
