I wonder what corporate America would think of this statement?
The true purpose of education is to produce socially acceptable people, especially workers. This is not necessarily an evil in itself because some level of social agreement and cohesiveness is vital to our survival. Tension, and discord, arises when some wish to use social indoctrination as a means to blunt individual expression and creativity. That’s why the “arts” are a good bellwether as to whether a culture has turned in on itself and fears being challenged by new ideas.
