The way to understand all of this is to realize that it’s part of a broader syndrome, in which wealthy Americans who benefit hugely from a system rigged in their favor react with hysteria to anyone who points out just how rigged the system is . . . [all Street’s Masters of the Universe] . . . have paid no price. Their institutions were bailed out by taxpayers, with few strings attached. They continue to benefit from explicit and implicit federal guarantees — basically, they’re still in a game of heads they win, tails taxpayers lose.

Richard Dawkins Event Banned by Michigan Country Club
Prejudice against atheists manifested itself again when The Wyndgate Country Club in Rochester Hills, Michigan (outside of Detroit), cancelled an event with scientist and author Richard Dawkins after learning of Dawkins’s views on religion. The Wyndgate terminated the agreement after the owner saw an October 5th interview with Dawkins onThe O’Reilly Factor in which Dawkins discussed his new book, The Magic of Reality: How We Know What’s Really True . . . The Wyndgate’s representative explained that the owner did not wish to associate with individuals such as Dawkins, or his philosophies.

John Carlos to protesters: Don’t vilify the cops
John Carlos, whose iconic black power salute at the 1968 Olympics generated outrage among many Americans, was greeted as a hero at Liberty Square in New York Monday night . . . [W]hile most Americans know that Carlos and fellow sprinter Tommie Smith wore black gloves and raised their fists in a salute at the medal ceremony, the pair also did not wear shoes in protest of poverty and wore beads in protest of lynching.
