If it were not for religion, Columbus would have been the first man on the Moon. If it were not for religion, the pilgrims would have settled on Mars, instead of on the East coast of North America. If it were not for religion, Neil Armstrong and Jacques Cousteau would have been star ship captains.
If it were not for religion, extra-terrestrial civilizations from other inhabited Earth-like planets, would have embassies in the USA, and in other nations around the world on planet Earth.
If it were not for religion, medicine, science, and technology would be far more advanced that it is today.
So that explains why in Star Trek, there are no chaplains on the Enterprise, or anywhere else in Star Fleet!
