  1. Anyone willing to spend 10 seconds thinking about this recognizes the error of this widely held assumption. Are they suggesting, for example, that the Hebrew people had no proscriptions against murder before Moses came down the mountain? Murder: oh, is that bad? That they condoned and practiced adultery, stealing, etc.? These are all baseline taboos for any social group that wishes to achieve and maintain cohesion. You’ll find them all the subject of attention in writings at least a millennium before the Hebrew texts.

    It seems to me American jurisprudence is philosophically grounded in Greek thought and statutorily to Roman and British law.
