Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered in front of White House on Sunday, demanding an end to US financial aid to Israel as the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) policy conference kicked off in Washington DC. Jewish Orthodox believers, anti-Zionist campaigners, and human rights activists rallied outside the seat of the US president. The AIPAC policy conference is the largest gathering of America’s pro-Israel lobbying group.

And here in the Midwest, I am oblivious to the tension and conflict of the growing divide between what is right and what just seems right. Without a weathervane to direct me, I would stand between the two groups, not knowing which way to go. It is a good thing the Midwest is so very far apart from the rest of the world. I can hide here and pretend my lack of opinion makes no difference in the greater scheme of things. And, if I am very lucky, I will be right.
