PROGRESSIVE INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM: “It’s Time for So-called Liberal Comedians to Shut the Fuck Up” / The Humanist Report / Mike Figueredo ☮

If you’re a millennial, there’s a good chance you’ve looked up to liberal comedians not just for their comedic value, but as a legitimate source of political information. However, once these liberal comedians realized how much their young audiences disliked the Democratic Party establishment, they decided to begin scolding us into submission, and berating us for legitimate concerns we have with establishment figures like Hillary Clinton and President Obama. In this segment, we talk about Trevor Noah, Bill Maher, and Samantha Bee’s smug dismissal of progressives’ concerns.

PROGRESSIVE INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM: “Republicans Are Using Hitler’s Big Lie Theory to Sell Their Fishy Healthcare Bill” / Thom Hartmann Program / Thom Hartmann ☮

Thom lays out the dirty republican strategy of BIG LIES on their healthcare plan and on the ACA (Obamacare). Their plan WON’T cover more people, WON’T lower deductibles, WON’T increase choices or quality of care, but WILL provide a HUGE tax cut for billionaires. Is the corporate media telling you this?

PROGRESSIVE INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM: “Republicans Throw “Beer Bash” After Voting Away Healthcare for Millions” / The Humanist Report / Mike Figueredo ☮

In a vote of 217-213, House Republicans have officially voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and replace it with a plan that would strip millions of Americans of their health insurance coverage and give tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans. To a normal person, this would be troubling; however, for a misanthropic, fascistic, extremist political party, it’s cause for celebration—and they did just that! Republicans reportedly ordered “cases upon cases” of Bud Light to celebrate their victory. Stay classy, a$$holes.

NEOLIBERALISM: “Time to Drive a Stake Through the Heart of Neoliberalism” / The Big Picture RT / Thom Hartmann ☮

On tonight’s Big Picture, Thom discusses the future of neoliberalism and a 21st century approach to economics with Kate Raworth, author of “Doughnut Economics.” Then, Thom talks to Horace Cooper of the National Center for Public Policy Research and Charles Sauer of the Market Institute about the GOP’s newest attempt to repeal Obamacare and FBI Director James Comey’s comments on Wikileaks.

PROGRESSIVE INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM: “Chomsky on the GOP: Has Any Organization Ever Been So Committed to Destruction of Life on Earth?” / Democracy Now! / Amy Goodman ☮

As President Trump prepares to mark 100 days in office, we spend the hour with the world-renowned linguist and dissident Noam Chomsky. Amy Goodman spoke to him on Monday night at the First Parish Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The conversation addressed climate change, nuclear weapons, North Korea, Iran, the war in Syria and the Trump administration’s threat to prosecute WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Amy Goodman began by asking him about the Republican Party.
