  1. Hi Bill! I agree the situation is far, far more complex than most people realise. Similar messes are Iraq and Lybia. It’s extremely worrying that so-called experts think a one answer solution will fix it! And, what happened to top class security info prior to any action?

  2. The entire Syrian mess is a cluster-fuck. All sorts of strange bedfellows on both sides of the argument related to military intervention. Interesting, however, that Hedges seems to think that intervention to prevent or stop genocide might be worthy while intervention that is principally punitive is not. Two thoughts on that proposition. “Prevention” was the central premise of the Bush Doctrine and the Iraq war. But how do you know you are ‘preventing’ something if it has not yet happened? And how do you know that a punitive action taken now will not prevent further use of chemical weapons? No matter how much people might think they have a clear grasp on the Syrian situation, they simply do not.
