Always Question Authority 
The articulated goals of both political and commercial intelligence gathering are, respectively, security and convenience. The singular goal of both, however, is control. There is an inherent suspicion, not altogether unfounded, that people want to be told what to do and think–the ultimate in security and convenience. Watching the phenomenon of society herding everyone into Facebook is a reminder of how difficult it is to retain individuality in today’s world.
