The idea of a Free Will might well have been a notion of early Christian theologians in the first place, in order to account for why humans would “choose” to sin and thus excuse their god for the phenomenon of sin and evil. In the end, however, it got them all screwed up and led to Augustine and the abominable concept of predestination.
