Yeah, this is a big problem when we try to speak, think about religion. What the hell is it, really? There is no single, flawless definition; that’s why legislating, adjudicating “religion” is so fraught with problems. I think Jen is right to point out that there should be some demarcation between a belief in a god or gods and the actual rituals, activities, and doctrines that accrete to that belief.
