I have the most utmost admiration for the polite control and restraint that was exhibited when trying to answer such asinine questions! Until very young children are not indoctrinated, which is the major source of apparently intelligent people to believe this BS then there’s not much hope! Pretty good formulation. And, it’s true, it’s almost impossible to have a serious discussion about atheism without sounding pedantic but with about 99.9% of the public you have to define terms. Pretty soon you’re doing a seminar and you can tell their heads about to explode.
Interesting to hear someone talk about deism which was so popular in the wake of the Enlightenment but is seldom mentioned today although its progeny include those who claim to be ‘spiritual but not religious.’
