She’s right that in more ways than is widely recognized we operate within a capitalist economy with some socialist safeguards that progressives and labor unions have fought hard for in order to blunt some of the sharper edges of capitalism. That’s why we owe so much to the labor movement of the past century and why it was so important that our oligarchy neuter it. Currently we have no central mass, no central force to match the labor movement. The only thing that even resembles it was the Occupy Movement and that has evaporated as well. We are alone, very alone.
