Zappa h/t: We Fucking Love Atheism

  1. Well… I’d agree with you if you were right, ’cause I’m an atheist of long standing and would love to see this be true, but you’re not… right about the quote, that is.

The tree bore the fruit of the “Knowledge of Good and Evil,” a very different thing. It had to do with the innocence of Man, not his ignorance or lack of intelligence. So long as Man was completely innocent, utterly clueless about the nature of evil or the difference between good and evil, Man could not sin, Salvation would never be necessary, free will would remain an alien concept and the world would remain forever perfect.

But the Judeo-Christian-Islamic “God” is actually the Norse “God,” Loki the Trickster, the Universe Grade Practical Joker… but with malevolence that the Norse never imagined. He never intended that state of existence to last. So this “God” created the Garden of Eden and everything in it, including Man. Then he introduced the “Tree,” a single representative of a species that disappeared as soon as its fruit was violated. Pandora’s box writ botanical. And he allowed his greatest enemy to persuade Eve to taste the fruit. Somebody needs a smack here, and it ain’t Eve.

    • Do you really believe that, Lonesomehawk? The whole story (as written in the Christian Bible) sounds ridiculous to my brain that has a secular world-view. It seems to me that miracles only occurred during biblical times – I’ve certainly never witnessed one nor have I witnessed ANYTHING “supernatural.”
