There is really no exact answer to this. Quite probably you would not be a theist. However, you would have to weigh up the attractions of theism, love of your parents & keeping your peers happy!
I fully see where Rick’s ‘coming-from’ but hopefully by their young teens they will start to think-for-themselves, I did! With the help of Science and the Apollo missions, I suddenly saw that the church and religion in-general had conned and lied to me for years..
Oh yes, I hope too. The problem is, once they get indoctrinated at….six, it’s a rarity they break out of the cage when they hit teenage years. Daily brainwashing of scary stories of burning forever, kept me up at night. It was only after I skipped church and learned to question that I was able to break out myself. I’m not the rule though. I’m the exception.
Here’s their reply: “Yes, because I’ll be saved.” They’ll come to that conclusion because they’ll undoubtedly have religious friends who are from religious households who’s parents undoubtedly scared them into believing in hell. Really very simple.
