AMERICAN HISTORY: “Support Indigenous Rights by Abolishing [Catholic] Columbus Day” / The Big Picture RT / Thom Hartmann ☮

Deborah Menkart, Teaching For Change/Zinn Education Project & Daniel Ruiz, Capital City Public Charter School, joins Thom. On Monday – millions of Americans will stay home from work and school to celebrate how Christopher Columbus committed genocide against the Taino people and launched the Transatlantic slave trade. Unfortunately – many Americans won’t know that it’s a celebration of genocide – because many Americans still don’t realize what actually happened when Columbus quote “discovered” America. Fortunately there are efforts moving forward across the country to celebrate “Indigenous People’s Day” instead of Columbus Day – with Phoenix, Arizona being the most recent city to recognize Indigenous People’s Day.

GREEN PARTY: “Bill Maher and Sarah Silverman Condescendingly Wag Their Fingers at BernieOrBust Voters” / The Humanist Report / Mike Figueredo ☮

In a segment on ‘Real Time with Bill Maher,’ Bill had Sarah Silverman on to belittle #BernieOrBust voters some more by condescendingly wagging their fingers at them for voting third-party and implying that they’re uninformed. It seems like they don’t get why we’re angry with the DNC and Hillary Clinton, so we explain it to them in this segment.

GREEN PARTY: “Definitive Proof Ralph Nader Didn’t Cost Al Gore the Election” / “Al Gore Betrayed Blacks, Progressives and America, Not Ralph Rader” / Jimmy Dore / *MUST WATCH* ☮

The erroneous claim that Ralph Nader cost Al Gore the 2000 election is frequently cited to discredit voting for a 3rd party candidate. It’s nonsense. Here’s why.

Black voters in Florida were purged from voter rolls by the tens of thousands, handing the White House to George Bush. In a sad moment in American History, highlighted in Michael Moore’s Farenheit 911, members of the Congressional Black Caucus rose to voice their opposition but Gore as President of the Senate told them to sit down and shut up, even scoring some cheap laughs.

THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX: “Guess Where Most of Our Money Goes” / Jimmy Dore ☮

Politicians like to tell you America is out of money but there is never any shortage of funds for bombs, bullets and wars.
