Fear is a motivator—often, when we’re scared, we feel that we want to leave a situation. That so-called “pull” that you feel often has more to do with wanting to be in a place of agency and control than it does, say, being scared of the dark, or flying. Actually, fear of flying is a great example for what Tali Sharot proposes. We all know that we couldn’t actually fly the plane if we were giving the controls, but we’re more-so afraid of giving up all of our perceived control. You’re three times more likely to crash in a car than crash in a plane but we all feel as if we are in control… which is why you don’t have many people scared of driving. Tali does a great job explaining the mentality behind fear, and her video here is worth a watch.
All those teachers who claim they were teaching children to write were wrong, they were doing something quite different. This video explains everything. In this short motivational art video I explain that everyone in the world can draw, providing they can write. I’ll show how our brains are programmed to read shapes and these simple shapes occur in our writing and in our drawing. I’ll show that teachers were not teaching you to write but to draw. What I’m aiming to do here is to motivate people and show that if you can write you can draw and just how ridiculous the statement, ‘I can’t draw really is’.
Annie Lennox – Whiter Shade Of Pale [Gary Brooker / Keith Reid] Photography by © Vincent Peters. Album: Medusa (1995) by Annie Lennox. Release: Date March 14, 1995. Sound recording administered by SME. Medusa is the second solo album by the Scottish singer Annie Lennox, released in March 1995. It consists entirely ofcover songs, all originally recorded by male artists. “Whiter Shade of Pale” is the debut single by the English rock band Procol Harum, released 12 May 1967. Keith Reid is a songwriter who wrote the lyrics of every Procol Harum song , got the title and starting point for the song at a party. He overheard someone at the party saying to a woman, “You’ve turned a whiter shade of pale,” and the phrase stuck in his mind. The song is based on J. S. Bach’s Orchestral Suite N° 3 in D Major by Fisher’s Hammond organ. Although he did not sing or play an instrument, lyricist Keith Reid was a pivotal element to the long-term success of art rock mainstays Procol Harum.
