WHITE-WING REPUBLICAN CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANITY: “Election 2016 ‘Is a Vote About God!'” / Secular Talk / Kyle Kulinski ☮

On his radio program on Friday, American Family Radio’s Bryan Fischer summed up the entire election when he told his listening audience that “this is a vote on Tuesday about God.”

“Let’s just cut right to the chase,” he said. “Let’s make it simple. This is a vote on Tuesday about God. Which of these candidates, which of the parties that these candidates represent have the greatest sensitivity, regard, respect, reverence for the things of God? So this is a vote about God and which of these candidates and which of these parties is most likely to pursue policies that show some kind of deference to God and God’s standards and God’s will.”

REPUBLICAN CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANITY: “The Devil is Using the Democratic Platform to Destroy America” / Secular Talk / Kyle Kulinski ☮

Jim Bakker, one of Donald Trump’s most vocal televangelist supporters, warned on his program today that God will judge America for failing to elect Trump president. This election, Bakker said, could determine whether America survives or falls, because God is getting ready to punish the U.S. for keeping abortion legal.

WHITE-WING CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN HYPOCRICY: “Why I Am Christian and Pro-Choice” / Charles Clymer ☮

Woman praying with rosary beadsI am pro-autonomy. I am pro-independence. I am pro-choice. I am also of the opinion that my religion — or anyone’s religion— has no place in the affairs of other people. I don’t like Christ being used as a political cudgel, but here we are, in 2016, talking about the very personal decisions women make, and so, I feel compelled to write this.

RELIGIOUS COMMENTARY: “The Fleeing Nones” / Real Time with Bill Maher Blog / 10.25.2016 ☮

Christian NoneYoung people are leaving the Church in droves – and not just because the priest has had too much wine and he’s horny.

A new survey by the Public Religion Research Institute finds, “nearly four in ten (39%) young adults (ages 18-29) are religiously unaffiliated – three times the unaffiliated rate (13%) among seniors (ages 65 and older). While previous generations were also more likely to be religiously unaffiliated in their twenties, young adults today are nearly four times as likely as young adults a generation ago to identify as religiously unaffiliated. In 1986, for example, only 10% of young adults claimed no religious affiliation.”  They add, “Today, one-quarter (25%) of Americans claim no formal religious identity, making this group the single largest “religious group” in the U.S.”

WHITE-WING CONSERVATIVE DOMESTIC TERRORISM: “FBI Foils Terror Plot in Kansas” / Secular Talk / Kyle Kulinski ☮

“The ‘Crusaders’ knew they wanted to kill Muslims — and with luck, use the “bloodbath” to ignite a religious war — but for months they couldn’t settle on a plan.

WHITE-WING CONSERVATIVE DOMESTIC TERRORISM: “Why Isn’t There Wall-to-Wall Coverage of the Kansas Crusaders?” / The Big Picture RT / Thom Hartmann ☮

Thom compares the media coverage of the arrest of three men in Kansas who were plotting to harm immigrants with coverage of previous events perpetrated by Muslims. Is the difference in coverage a reflection of the media’s views on race?
